15. MUSIC MATTERS (PT 2)
I am still working my way through all of the albums put forward in MUSIC MATTERS (part 1) – suggested by The Zombies. So far the biggest buzz has been to actually sit and LISTEN to entire albums again, and hear albums I may have heard of but have never listened to.
This month I can reveal the albums suggested by the crew surrounding the band on the ‘Something Great From 68’ tour in September, most of whom we have toured with before, many of whom are fantastic musicians and writers themselves. Apart from Laurence, (Welsh), and Dale, (in his words ‘Gringlish’ – Greek/English), the rest of this group are Americans.
A reminder of the question I put to everyone:
‘NAME THREE ALBUMS THAT, IN YOUR OPINION, EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO
AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIVES.’

Dale Hanson: (Sound engineer for The Zombies, music maker)
1. ‘Faith’ - George Michael (1987)
2. ‘Listen Without Prejudice’ - George Michael (1990)
3. ‘Older’ - George Michael (1996)
Marya Glur: (Tour manager for The Zombies - and other bands!)
1. ‘Whitney Houston’ - Whitney Houston (1985)
2. ‘Thriller’ - Michael Jackson (1982)
3. ‘Greatest Hits’ - KC And The Sunshine Band (1980)
Cindy da Silva: (Manager - The Rocks Management)
1. ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ - Pink Floyd (1973)
2. ‘So’ - Peter Gabriel (1986)
3. ‘Odessey and Oracle’ - The Zombies (1968)
Chris Tuthill: (Manager - The Rocks Management)
1. ‘Wish You Were Here’ - Pink Floyd (1975)
2. ‘The Blues Brothers’ - A Briefcase Full of Blues (1978)
3. ‘Blitzen Trapper’ - Furr (2008)
Laurence Davies: (Road crew Extraordinaire!)
1. ‘2 OZs of Plastic with a Hole in the Middle’ - Man (1969)
2. ‘Sin After Sin’ - Judas Priest (1977)
3. ‘Never Turn Your Back On A Friend’ – Budgie (1973)
Dean Anshutz: (Crew for The Zombies, drummer, band - ‘Red Wanting Blue’):
1. ‘Wildflowers’ - Tom Petty (1994)
2. ‘Simple Songs’ - Jim O’Rourke (2015)
3. ‘Smile’ - Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson (2004)
Clark Becker: (Guitar and drum tech for The Zombies, drummer)
1. ‘Scarecrow’ - John Cougar Mellencamp (1985)
2. ‘2112’ - Rush (1976)
3. ‘Kind Of Blue’ - Miles Davis (1959)
Pam Ricklin: (Management Assistant - The Rocks Management)
1. ‘Breakaway’ - Kelly Clarkson (2004)
2. ‘Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends’ - Coldplay (2008)
3. ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ - OneRepublic (2007)

This list includes a larger number of albums I don’t know than last month’s list. Music is such an inclusive language - I look forward to increasing my vocabulary!
Thanks to all of you for answering this question and for being so generally brilliant.
Hope to see you all again soon.
